It's that icky social week between Xmas and New Year's and we should definitely go to a movie...

James Cameron - the most extroverted of directors (who else would scream "I'm the King of the World" at the Oscars and then not make another movie for fifteen years?) but we introverts love him. Or love to hate him. Or hate to love him. Or love some of his movies. Or something...

Anyway, people in the group mentioned this as a movie they'd want to see. It's a return to true Cameron sci-fi action form after Titanic. Sigourney Weaver's in it. What else could you ask for?

I'm not sure where it'll be playing, or when, so I'll post the specific details closer to the date.

Unfortuantely, I've caught a seasonal bug and it's being very extroverted with me. No fun. I'm not going to be able to make it to Avatar but the Meetup will go ahead as planned. Please look for Aimee beside the machines where you buy a ticket with your credit/debit card at 6:30. If you don't know who Aimee is and you're concerned about finding the group, you can message her and ask her for her cellphone number.

We'll meet at 6:30 at the Scotiabank by the machines where people buy their tickets electronically, at the far end of the lobby inside the doors. If you're new to the group, try to recognize me or Aimee from our photos. In any case, there should be a pretty large group gathering there.

Everybody who responded preferred the Scotiabank so we'll meet there.

I'm still not sure about the time as they may change screening times next week so I'll keep you updated.

Let's see once on big screen and again on little screen.:) I'm all excited about it...:) Ok, if we had to do one, I'd prefer big 3D.

As this is a big movie, I'd rather see this in 3D instead of Rainbow Cinema.

I'm just trying to figure out where to schedule this Meetup.

We could go all out and go see it in 3-D in a Cineplex theatre and pay a little under $20.

Or we could go to the Rainbow Market Square and, since it's a Tuesday, see it on a small screen, in non 3-D, and see it for $4. The Rainbow is a crowded and difficult place to meet and on a Tuesday, you have to come extra early to buy tickets before they sell out.

What do you guys want to do?

    •  I'm sorry that I was very sick and I appreciate Aimee handling the event. I'm also sorry that the screening was sold out but I did send an e-mail asking people to get their tickets early. Sometimes, these things are unforseeable and despite all the planning and hard work we do, Hamid, we can't foresee all possibilities. We work very hard to plan these things without asking for anything in return except that you show up, make friends, and enjoy yourselves. I can't speak for Aimee but I view our group as a community of sorts and it's always nice when people take it upon themselves to help out in general. If somebody knew that the screenings were sold out for days, they could have let us know. It's always easy to criticize after the fact.

It was a late night as we had to go for the 9 pm showing. But it was worth the wait. Very impressive!
    •  Good. But could be better if someone checked with theatre about ticket availability the night before since it has been sold out several hours before every showing everyday since it's release at this theatre, so several introverts did not get a chance to see it.
