"Hey guys - just realized I have another work-related event that evening. Will try to pop by later in the evening. Aimee - maybe I can reach you by cell when I'm leaving my other event to see if you guys are still there. Cheers!"
"Not like the Poetry You Were Forced to Read in School! Hey guys, I'm sharing an invite with other members who may be interested. So I know alot of people will think 'poetry'? Sounds boring. ... MoreI can assure you nothing is further from the truth. The Toronto Poetry Slams are poetry competitions (writers go through at least 3 rounds during the night. There are judges and audience participation/reaction can sometimes sway who wins!). The 'last poet standing' takes home $$$. People come from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds. Most of the time the poetry is intelligent, moving, funny, and beautiful. And sometimes, the topics people write about are controversial and deliberately provocative. Anyway, they are lots of fun and not anything like the boring poetry we all had to read in school. The next slam is happening at the Drake on Nov 21 at 7pm. It's also the group's 4th anniversary so it's kinda festive. See the anniversary slam facebook link below and see the TPS website link below too. About 100 or so people are confirmed on the facebook site. I've been to these slams before - they are very, very popular. Starts at 7pm but people should show up really early to get a seat. If people are interested we could meet for an early dinner at the Drake about 5pm and then go downstairs for the Slam. Anniversary Slam at the Drake - nov 21 http://www.facebook.c... "Look forward to it."
"For those of you who attended the Capitalism movie meetup a few weeks ago, you'll remember the parts of the movie that talked about the youth thrown in jail (for silly reasons) to feed the US capitalism machine. ... MoreI read this story in the Toronto Star today and it made me shiver....it made me think - oh my god it's happening here too! http://www.thestar.co... "
"Can't wait."
"Hey - It's Abigail, here. Just wanted to thanks those of you once again who joined me at the Halloween Party at the pub after Java Joe's. It was great to play games, get to know you more, and just have a casual, fun time. ... MoreHope you all have a great week!!! Abigail. "
